Canucks and Icedogs come together for a great cause!
Your Icedogs and Clearview Canucks filled holiday spirits and bellies in a Christmas food Drive! Food overflowed on to the floor with a huge amount of support from both teams. Our community is very grateful for this support as we have an increased need during this holiday season. Thank you Tyler Hatten from the Chesley fire Dept for your work behind the scenes to make todays event a successful one,and a HUGE thank you to Clearview Canucks, without your generosity this would not have been possible.
Now to the part you're all waiting for....
With fans in the stands and both benches full for an action packed afternoon exhibition Matinee. Now for the opening face off, Icedogs have met their match.
As the first period gets under way, it seemed that Icedogs may have bitten off more then they could chew, with a lot of pucks in our zone early on, but this family of well conditioned kids rose to the challenge. At 5:15 of the first Connor H tips home a sweet feed from his centremen Calhon U to boost the Icedogs up 1-0.
The remainder of the first and the second and all most all of the third seen battles in the corner, end to end action, blocked shots, shots on net with both tenders standing on their heads, but with 1:12 remaining in the third with a small scramble to side of Jack T nets the Canucks were able to squeeze one past to knot it up at 1 all. the last 1:11 seen both teams trying their hardest to protect the tie and with todays special game, what a way to finish.
Special shout out to the Canucks on their penalty free game.
Today showed how friends, teammates, families and competitors can come together for a great cause. Clearview you are welcome in our barn anytime. Thanks for a great game, great sportsmanship, and adding to our memories from this hockey season.
Now we have some well deserved down time to enjoy the hobbies that these kiddos love, and prepare for silverstick and the up coming second half of our season.
