Back to Back wins for the Icedogs!!
This weekend saw your U13s in back to back games Friday and Saturday.
Friday vs Huron Bruce, and Saturday vs Walkerton.
Friday night we were home in Chesley, tunes were pumping thanks to Avery W in a nail biter game.
for the majority of the 1st period it was end to end action, both goalies coming up huge with some pretty epic saves.
Icedogs had met their match with the Blizzard in town.
Defence was solid through out the entire game, giving the Huron Bruce a run for their money. Now the moment you're all waiting for, at 4:57 in the first Paysen H gets your Icedogs on the board assisted by Kane W. Not wasting any time just 34 secs after Cal U nets his 12th of the season with helpers going to Connor H and Landon S. Once they got going they were hard to stop, then at 3:55 Landon S with the "Clapper" nets his 6th of the season assisted by Jackson M. With the clock winding down and Icedogs letting off the gas, The Blizzard blew end to end making it a 3-1 score at the end of the first.
New period and 15 minutes on the clock, Icedogs started strong with Landry W stretching the lead to 3 assisted by Jackson M. Most of the second seen back and forth hockey and once again the Blizzard clawed the lead back to just 2 to end the second.
Time for a flood and well needed rest as this game has been your Icedogs regular season match.
To start the 3rd the Blizzards climbed on the board first putting the spread to just one and yes we are back to end to end hockey with both goalies from either side practically standing on their heads making saves.
3;33 remaining in the third Icedogs get the puck deep in the Blizzards zone Hunter T picks up a loose puck behind the net and finds Cal U at the side of the net on the goal line who finds a hole short side over the Blizzard goalie shoulder boosting the Icedogs up 5-3 which would result in the GWG. Now after both teams exercise their timeouts the Blizzards pull their goalie to give them the extra skater and after a scramble in front of Jack T the blizzards cut the lead back to just 1 with 1:23 remaining in the third. Icedogs played dump and chase game for the rest of the period and held on with a 5-4 win.
Game 2, Icedogs are off to Walkerton for a 3:30 matinee on Saturday afternoon.
Just behind us in the standings the Capitals were sure to be a good match up.
Coming off a 5-4 win last night Icedogs were pumped and ready to go, hungry for another win. It didn't take the Icedogs all that long to get on the board in this one with Hunter T scoring his 12th of the season assisted by Cal U which would also result in the GWG. These kids don't quit, they play hard every shift until they hear a whistle or the buzzer because with just 42 secs left in the first Hunter T returns the favour, with a beautiful feed high in the slot for Cal U to send to the back of the net, 2-0 Icedogs to end the first.
To start the 5th period of play in just 2 days this family of kids never give up, and at 13:04 and 6:44 Cal U nets his second and third completing the hat trick with assisted going to Paysen H and also assisted on his second and third gaol Sebastian M. End of the second 4-0 and heading off for a flood.
The third period saw some great plays and lots of passing, a few penalties but unfortunately no goals. Icedogs banded together like they always do and held the Capitals off the board. We had a few injuries but nothing too serious. Icedogs will have a practice Monday night to prepare for their final game of the first half of regular season pool play next Friday night 7:15 in Tara. Come fill the barn and cheer them on.
