IceDogs Rally to Tie Falcons
The PeeWee LL IceDogs were hosting the Hanover Falcons in the final chapter of the 2019/2020 regular season.
The Falcons had clipped the IceDogs 3-1 a week ago but for those in attendance, the IceDogs controlled the play and probably deserved a better fate.
The Falcons would jump out in this one with a breakaway dangle but it was all IceDog tendy Nathan A. would give them as he stood tall to keep his team in it. It was a scrambly affair and Ryan P. would ding the post but the Falcons would lead 1-0 at the first recess.
The 2nd period had the IceDogs taking over the play and several quality chances went unrewarded. The Falcons would somehow manage another one but once again the IceDogs were probably the better team, just not on the scoreboard as the 2nd period horn sounded.
The third period had Coach Julie making a few lineup changes to try to get some offence going and it paid dividends early. With Ryan P. and Tyler B. mucking about behind the net, the puck would squirt out to Lance G. who easily deposited the puck into the back of the net to get the IceDogs on the board. The goal inspired the IceDogs who were coming on strong and Riley J. would dangle his way in to knot things up with 4 minutes left to play. The IceDogs had a couple of chances to pull ahead and Nathan A. would make a larcenous save in the waining minutes to give the IceDogs the comeback tie.
A pretty good regular season and the IceDogs were definitely better in the latter half so the playoff season should be fun!!! Good season IceDogs--now, bring on the playoffs!
