IceDogs Rally Late to Tie Wingham
The PeeWee LL #2 IceDogs were looking to get back into the win column as they faced Wingham on Sunday evening.

The IceDogs were a bit jittery to start this one as Wingham took the play to them and popped an early goal to take a 1-0 lead.  But as the period continued, the IceDogs found their legs and it was George I. tying things up off some great checks by Randi-Lynn and Bryson to get him the puck.  The scrambly play would continue for both teams as the first horn sounded and the score tied at ones.

The second period had the IceDogs putting pressure on the Wingham squad and it was Riley J. dancing across the blue line and tucking a backhand deke behind the Wingham netminder to give his team the lead.  The IceDogs would give that one back midway through the frame on a goal mouth scramble (kind of a theme on the night.)  With Wingham coming on and peppering Dustin V. the puck would squirt loose to George I. and he would put on the ol' triple deke and get the IceDogs the lead.  As the period ended, it was the IceDogs finding their game and looking to bring this one home.

The third period has often been this teams undoing and they vowed tonight would be different.  They were checking well and keeping Wingham to the outside but a blistering wrister from the point would find the back of the IceDog net and things were tied again.  At the end of a lengthy penalty kill, Wingham would get the go-ahead goal they were looking for on another goal mouth scramble and things were looking bleak for the IceDogs.  But, they had vowed to not let this one slip away and Lance G. and Ryan P. would race away on a 2-1 break.  Lance would rip a shot on net and Ryan buried the rebound with 2:00 left to play.  Tight checking would negate any more chances and the IceDogs would escape with a hard-earned tie.

Always room for improvement but the IceDogs did more little things right in this one.  Shout out to Tyler B, Riley J. and Calista for playing a great game as the only D on this night....the IceDogs wish Nathan P. a speedy recovery and hope he can re-join the lineup soon!
