IceDogs Weather the Storm
It was a snowy night in Paisley on Wednesday night as the Storm paid a visit to the PeeWee LL #2 IceDogs.  The IceDogs were looking for their first win of the season in front of a sold out crowd.

The IceDogs came out of the gate flying and Nathan P. scored on his first 3 shifts to get the IceDogs on the board.  The IceDogs got full marks for doing all the little things right and checking the Storm at every turn.  Riley J. was skating and passing like John Carlson and Tyler B. looked every bit like Morgan Reilly as it was all IceDogs as the first period horn sounded.

The second period had the IceDogs continue their scoring ways with George I. making a great play to gain the Storm zone and fire a laser into the back of the net.  A great defensive play by Bryson R. would get Ryan P. the puck and he would spring Nathan on another break with a beauty chip pass.  Nathan would snipe another one and shortly after,  Lance G. would bust out of his own zone and rip a goal as the IceDogs padded their lead.  But something happened with all the goal scoring and the IceDogs began to get away from what made them successful.  The Storm began to turn the tide as the 2nd period ended, although Dustin V. was keeping their side of the scoreboard at 0 at the 2nd intermission.

A combination of the Storm getting going and the IceDogs stating to get away from the little things that made them successful led to 3 Storm goals in the third.  Nathan P. would get another goal (assisted by Randi-Lynn) and Ryan P. would get on the board (assisted by Calista H.) but it was probably not their best period of hockey.  Despite the sloppy third period, the IceDogs did more good things on this night and earned their first win of the season.

A lop-sided score can sometimes lead to bad habits and it probably did at the end of this one.  But Coach Julie was preaching the little things that led the IceDogs to dominate the 1st and 2nd period.  If the IceDogs play that way, they will be one tough team to beat!
