PeeWee LL IceDogs Come Up Short vs Blyth-Brussells
The PeeWee LL 2 IceDogs were chomping at the bit to get into game action after a week layoff. Blyth-Brussells would be their opponent on a Sunday evening in Chesley.
Things got off to a good start for the local squad as George I. would make a nice chip play off the boards and dance in all alone to get the IceDogs a 1-0 lead. Several quality scoring chances followed that goal with Lance G. and Ryan P. just missing on plays that would have widened the lead. Nathan A., starting in goal wasn't busy, but had to make some 10 bell saves to keep the 1-0 lead as the first period buzzer sounded.
The 2nd period was once again all IceDogs as they worked pucks smartly into the Blyth-Brussel zone only to just miss on chances to score. Nathan A. was equal to the task on all the shots he faced and the IceDogs would get to the intermission still up 1-0.
Maybe they should have declined the flood because the 3rd period was all Blyth-Brussells. The IceDogs took their foot off the gas just long enough to let Blyth-Brussels score 3 end-to-enders and take this one by a score of 3-1.
The IceDogs learned a hard lesson---you have to play 3 periods of hockey if you want to win--a lesson they will be sure to learn as the host Saugeen Shores on Wednesday night in Paisley.
