Ice Dogs Come Up Short in Game #2
The Atom White Ice Dogs were hosting the Saugeen Shores Storm in Game #2 in Paisley on a sunny, Sunday afternoon.
The Ice Dogs had taken Game #1 in a nail biter in Southampton the day before and this one was more of the same.
The Ice Dogs would come out of the gate by applying tremendous pressure but had a hard time getting the pucks to the net. The Storm would break the deadlock with a seeing eye laser that just eluded Josh S. outstretched glove and take a 1-0 lead. The Ice Dogs kept coming and Ryan P would chip the puck up the boards to a streaking George P who would rifle one by the Storm goalie and things were all knotted up 1-1 at the end of the period.
The 2nd period was a see-saw battle with chances at both ends. The Ice Dogs kept up the pressure but the Storm are a tough checking team and kept the 'Dogs at bay.
The third period was more tight - checking and and the Ice Dogs thought they had the game winner a couple of times but it was not meant to be. The Storm would break free as the period was reaching its end and get their 2nd goal with 4 minutes left. The Ice Dogs kept at it and had a few chances to tie it up but couldn't find the back of the net.
The Ice Dogs would come up short 2-1. These two teams will battle for the Championship in Game #3 on Sunday at the Tara Cyclone Taylor Arena.
