Ice Dog Atom White Edge Storm in Game #1
The Arran Elderslie Atom White Ice Dogs battled the storm and the Storm as they traveled to Southampton for Game #1 of the Championship Series.
The Ice Dogs didn't get off to the start they wanted as 7 seconds in the Storm took a 1-0 lead on a bouncer that eluded goalie Josh S. The Ice Dogs came back with a strong shift and it was game on but couldn't get the equalizer before the end of the 1st period.
The 2nd period ice was barely dry when George P snuck a rebound by the Storm goalie with assists going to Ryan P and Gavin H. The Storm were giving the Ice Dogs all they could handle the rest of the way but the game remained tied after 2 periods 1-1.
The third started when Tash B. made an electrifying rush up the left side and snapped a bullet by the Storm goalie and it was 2-1 Ice Dogs. The Storm kept coming and banged in a loose puck to tie things up 2-2 with 6 minutes left to play. With a face off deep inside Storm territory, George P won the draw back to Colby H, who blasted his patented wrister at the net. Ryan P grabbed the rebound and fired a shot on net--the Storm goalie thought he had the puck covered but Lucas W. found it first and pushed the puck across the line and it was 3-2 Ice Dogs with 3 minutes to play! The last minute saw a flurry of activity inside the Ice Dog zone but they hung on for a 3-2 win.
A great game played by 2 great teams! This coaches heart is still pounding! Tomorrow the Ice Dogs will try to bring home the championship with a 3:00 start in Paisley.
Go get 'em Dogs! You are already champions off the ice!
