Ice Dogs Work Hard in Ripley
On Saturday, October 20th the Novice Rep Ice Dogs journeyed to Ripley to play the Wolves in their second game of the season.

The team showed their determination from the very start when they scored the first goal of the game during the first minutes of play. An excellent goal by Jakob, and assisted by Annie and Ryan. Aiden had many saves but he made an excellent one when the other team had a breakaway of two on none. Way to use your head! Great defensive work by Annie, Evan, Colton, and Brett helped the Ice Dogs keep their lead throughout most of the first period. Unfortunately the Wolves tied up the game with 40 seconds to go and so the Ice Dogs headed into the second period tied at 1-1. The second period proved more difficult and the Wolves pulled ahead to a 3-1 lead. Aiden kept things interesting when he left the net wide open for a shot by the Wolves and then amazingly dove across the net to stop the shot. What a save! There were many comments in the stands about this save and the great passes by Brett during this period. Sadly the third period began with the Wolves scoring another goal making it 4-1. The Ice Dogs never gave up though. Cameron, Ivor, Sarah, and Jakob kept digging along the boards to get the puck. Ryan, Liam, and Annie helped to get the puck into the Wolves end, and Brett, Evan and Colton kept it in the Wolves end time and time again. The coaching staff switched things up near the end of this period when they put Brett in center for a few shifts. Brett did an excellent job and put the puck on the net several times. Great cover was shown by Liam as he took over defense for Brett and kept the puck in the Wolves end. Even though they couldn’t squeeze another goal past the goalie, great effort was shown by the Novice Rep Ice Dogs as they held off the Ripley Wolves for remainder of the game to a 4-1 deficit.
