U13 Icedogs Back on Track vs KInuks Team 2
With the sour notes that ended the previous weekend in the rear view mirror, the Icedogs came to the rink on Saturday Nov. 30, with a much more positive attitude.

It was a blistery day across Grey-Bruce as winter began to decorate the local hills with white snow. That didn't deter both teams and all the parents and fans for a good old hockey tilt in the Tara Barn.

The first period was testing grounds for both teams. The Icedogs managed put together some decent scoring chances with team work and sharp passing. No goals came of those efforts but they did pen the Kinuks in their end on many occasions. The Kinuks didn't lay down and play dead either and Cole F was tested many times and he made the hard saves look easy.

The period would end in a 0-0 draw.

With praise from the bench on a great team effort in the 1st, the Icedogs switched ends and took on the second period. The pressure on the Kinuks finally gave way 6 minutes in. Attempts by Ben H and Avelyn S were close but the puck finally ended up on the tape of Harley M's stick, who tucked it in to the yawning cage. Rumour has it that the "special" skate sharpening may have attributed to Harley's extra effort.

Just a couple minutes later, more pressure in the Kincardine end, and Harley M fed the puck out to Cole W who took a few strides into the zone and fired an absolute missel, putting us up by two.

Not sit back and watch, Kesler W, picked up a pass from his D partner Cole W, and took off like nobody's business. He deked everything except the zamboni and fired home a beauty to put us up by 3.

Avelyn at this time stated on the bench..... she would like her skates to have a "special" sharpening as she wanted a goal. Well regardless of the blades, she did just that just seconds after the previous goal with help from Brandon N and Kesler W.

The buzzer would sound with the Icedogs with a commanding 4-0 lead heading into the 3rd. Kincardine was not going to make it easy. Cole F was called upon again and again and made some beauty stops. The Icedogs pressured back but the Kincardine netminder had some magic of their own. With just over 4 minutes left in the game, Harley M struck again as he and Avelyn S were buzzing the Kincardine net. (Mighty special skate sharpening indeed)

Final Score, Icedogs 5, Kincardine 0

A well earned shut out for Cole F. A big shout out to the rest of the team who may have not made the score sheet.
Liam, Seth, Myles, Ben, Jaxson, Hunter and Mav... you all came to play and had teamwork on your minds. Great praise by all the coaches and I am sure the parents were all proud of the effort too.
See you all at the tournament in Kincardine next weekend.
