Ice Dogs Sweep Weekend Contests!
The Arran Elderslie Atom LL White Ice Dogs played in back to back contests this weekend and won them both to extend their win streak to 18 games.
The Ice Dogs rolled into the Julie McArthur Arena in Owen Sound on a beautiful Sunday afternoon to take on the Owen Sound Jr. Attack. These two teams met in the very first game of the season with the Ice Dogs scoring a 4-0 victory.
The Ice Dogs got out of the gate quickly when George P. wrapped in a rebound in at the 1 minute mark of the opening period (assists to Gavin H. and Ryan P.) Not to be outdone, the line of Daemyn E., Lucas W. and Larkin G. would find the scoreboard when Lucas banged home a Larkin G. rebound. Austin G. would end the first period with a bullet from the blue line after some pretty passing by Ryan P and George P. It was 3-0 Ice Dogs at recess.
The second period saw the Attack find their legs and they began to push back. Josh S. had to be on top of his game after a flurry of activity in the Ice Dog end zone. However, the Ice Dog D-corps, led by Tash B and Dylan P., played without panic and made some great first passes out of their zone. The score after two was still 3-0 Ice Dogs.
Colby H. would get the fans out of their seats with a beautiful "Bobby Orr - like" rush in the middle of the third period. He raced down to the Attack zone, skated behind the net, and fed Ryan P, who would bulge the twine to make it 4-0 Ice Dogs. The Ice Dogs would get out of Owen Sound with 2 more points in the bank and an 18 game win streak still alive.
The Ice Dogs continue their busy schedule with 2 more games this week, including a show-down with Saugeen Shores on Tuesday at the Tara Cyclone Taylor Arena---this one should be a beauty!
