Ice Dog Win Streak Continues!
The Atom LL White Ice Dogs and TCDMHA Rebels faced off in a re-scheduled match-up on Thursday night at the Cyclone Taylor Arena.
The Rebels played the Ice Dogs hard last time but Coach Bob had the Ice Dogs ready for this one. The Ice Dogs hit the ice running right from puck drop and created chance after chance. The Rebels came to play too and Ice Dog net minder Josh S. made a couple of booming pad saves to keep the score knotted at zeroes for most of the first period. That's when George P. picked up a nice pass from Tash B. and headed toward the Rebel end. With Ryan P riding shotgun, George slipped a beauty pass over to Ryan, who went forehand-backhand to give the Ice Dogs the lead.
The 2nd period saw the Ice Dogs keep up the attack. Larkin G. would skate fiercely into the Rebel zone and cause a turnover. She picked up the loose puck and fired a low wrister that beat the Rebel goalie to make it 2-0. Josh S. had to make a couple of more saves as the Rebels began to pick up the pace. The puck hounding duo of Ryan and George would cause another Rebel turnover that led to Austin G. beating the Rebel goalie to make it 3-0.
The Rebels would begin the third with some more pressure but the Ice Dogs kept most of play away from their net. The Ice Dogs would cause another turnover late in the third period that led to Gavin H. scoring a typical "Gavin Goal" (right in the blue paint!) with assists going to George P and Ryan P.
The fans were treated to a wildly entertaining game with lots of action at both ends. The Ice Dogs have a busy schedule ahead with a couple of weekend games. See ya' at the rink!
