Hey IceDog Nation!
As we hit the final few weeks of the regular season, we sure have a lot of great IceDog moments to celebrate this season! As an Executive, we appreciate everything parents, coaches, trainers, and players have put into an exciting season.
We had an excellent turn out at our executive meeting on Tuesday night with many people looking to step up and join next year, and I am feeling very confident that our Association is going to continue to get better and stronger in the years ahead.
Unfortunately, we have also come into the time of year where a lot of bad behaviour is being reported back to us, both from our own parents and coaches, and also from those outside the Association. As the season goes on, emotions tend to run high. It is the reality of the technology age, that bad behaviour tends to get caught on tape, and no one stays anonymous anymore.
With that in mind, I would like to remind all of our coaches, volunteers, parents and players of the high standard that we hold ourselves to within Arran Elderslie Minor Hockey, and also of the requirements of the OMHA Respect in Sport program. Please take a moment to refamiliarize yourselves with the information on this website EDUCATION (omha.net)
, or refer back to your Respect in Sport course.
It speaks to the character of our association, that where some negative incidents were potentially transpiring, the vast majority of people from our Association were trying to de-escalate the situations. Thank you!
Lots of IceDog teams have represented IceDog Nation with class in tournaments, hotels and arenas throughout Southern Ontario. Let's finish the season strong and on a positive note, as we head towards some big wins in the playoffs.
Thank you for your attention.
