Annual General Meeting and President Update!
Hey IceDog Nation!
I'm writing to you on this beautiful spring day, with concerned thoughts about Winter.
The AEMHA Annual General Meeting took place last night at the Tara Legion. Unfortunately, we only had one non-executive member show up to this meeting. This highlights a growing issue within our Association. We are struggling to fill positions on the executive, and throughout the organization. We recognize more than anyone the time commitment that comes with volunteering for Minor Hockey but it is this commitment that makes hockey run.
If you have a child in minor hockey, we need you. We need you to step up as an executive member, as a coach, trainer, team manager, tournament volunteer. Jobs come in all shapes and sizes, and everyone has the ability to help out in some way. Jobs can be shared, and we have an extremely supportive group that will help everyone to be successful.
Please speak to your coaches or an executive member about how you can help the Association. We still have a vacancy on the Executive for a Tournament Coordinator. It is only by the good will of the current executive that we didn't finish our meeting last night in jeopardy of not having a complete executive as required by OMHA.
A couple of other updates from the AGM:
We have set our registration fees, which show an increase in all divisions. The reason for this is there is no longer a gate fee at any home or away games in our region. This is good news for everyone who attends and brings friends and family to the games. Registration will be open in the coming days, and a communication will be sent out to everyone when that happens. Please register early and spread the word!
In addition, if we can secure a tournament Convenor, we are planning to bring back home tournaments to our schedule this coming season.
I want to thank Jenn Mannerow for stepping up to fill the position of Head Trainer. And I want to thank departing executive members Rob Searson and Andrea Moulton for their contributions.
Thank you to all our volunteers for a great 2021-2022 and with your help, next season will be even better!
