2021/2022 - The Season is Upon Us...
Submitted By Scott Price on Sunday, October 10, 2021
Hey IceDog Nation!  The 2021/2022 regular season is just about ready to kickoff!  Rep Teams are selected, our Local League Teams are getting organized and schedules are being made....this coach can't wait to get started!

Just a few updates from the Executive:

1) As jerseys get distributed to teams, please remember jerseys DO NOT live in players hockey bags...our equipment manager (Shawna) will give each team a bag to keep home and away jerseys together and coaches will be asking a team member to be responsible for all the jerseys.

***the reason for this is jerseys can get pretty beat up in hockey bags...they are very expensive to replace so please respect this Association guideline

2) Covid 19 protocols are in place at all our arenas and as we start to travel to other centres, please be aware that other Municipalities may have different protocols...confusing I know but please be respectful of Arena Employees...they can't like this any more than you do.  The protocols are changing too and I will try to update the AEMHA website as soon as I get word.

3) Coaches for the Local League Teams are trying to divide the players up...please be patient as it is not an easy process.  Trying to secure bench staff and divide players equally takes time and they are doing the best that they can.

4) Rep Team Selection - the AEMHA Rep teams this year had independent evaluators for the U15, U13 and U11 age groups.  It also is not an easy process and there is not one "right" way to do it.  Coaches did their best to make it a fair process for all the players trying out.  In the U11 age group alone, there were around 30 players on the ice trying out.  As an evaluator for that group (one session) I can tell you, those were not easy decisions!

As we hit the start line of the 2021/2022 season, it is still important to be flexible and patient as coaches, executive staff and arena staff navigate Covid 19 and OMHA / WOAA policies.  It has been a difficult and stressful last couple of weeks to say the least.  But we are almost there.  Thanks for being patient and understanding.

Get ready IceDog Nation!  It's almost Game On!
