Return to Play - Update #8
Hey IceDog Nation!
Kudos to you on a successful start to Phase 2. I have been a part of the U13 and U15 games and heard only good things about the other age groups. There have been challenges and not everything is perfect but I appreciate everyone trying their best to tug on the rope in the same direction and at the same time.
Just a couple of notes as we move through the rest of Phase 2:
a) online streaming of games of the Chesley Arena was approved by the Executive BUT we will need all the players to have signed permission. Media Release forms will be available soon and once everyone has returned them, we will start the streaming service. I do not know all the details or how it works BUT hoping to know more in the coming weeks.
b) Johnny K Sports in Hanover will once again be handling IceDog Clothing. Orders will be handled exclusively online but then "shipped" out or picked up for individual groups to distribute to their players (same as last few years)...if sizing questions arise, you would need to head to Johnny K's to try clothing on. Stay tuned and I'll put out an update when the online ordering is ready to go.
c) Thanks to Richard Engel, Josh Engel, Greg Fritz and Josh Fritz for volunteering to ref the last few weeks of games (I apologize if I missed someone). Refs are volunteering and keeping our costs down this year so it is greatly appreciated.
d) Flexibility, Tolerance and Patience-- I know everyone's patience, tolerance and flexibility is being put to the test this year...I do not believe there is one perfect way to navigate this season and the Return to Play Committee has put in a lot of hours trying to get something organized for the kids to do. Neighbouring centres might be doing it differently but that doesn't mean it is better. If you are frustrated by protocols or coaches or games or fairness, please remember our volunteers really are doing their best. Before you call an Executive Member to complain about something, please consider that we are asking everyone to be flexible, patient and tolerant. It really is in IceDog Nation's best interest to think about that. We will always be happy to help or nip problems in the bud (I have to remind myself to be patient, tolerant and flexible too!) We continue to have Executive Meetings the third Tuesday of every month.
e) Please take some time on Wednesday, November 11 to reflect and remember those that fought for our freedom. Last year I was lucky enough to coach a great group of kids that took Remembrance very seriously and I hope that will continue this year and beyond.
Thanks IceDog Nation! You are proving once again that IceDogs Rule! Keep your stick on the ice and let's finish up Phase 2 on a high note!
