Season in Full Swing!
Submitted By Scott Price on Sunday, November 10, 2019
Good Evening IceDog Nation!  The 2019/2020 season is in full swing now!

It was a great Hockey Day in Arran-Elderslie.  It was great to see all the teams in action and the hustle and bustle around the Arena.  Thanks to Johnny K for coming and help getting our IceDogs all decked out in new gear.

Congrats to the Atom Rep team and the Bantam LL teams on representing our Association well this past weekend in their respective tournaments.  Both teams made the semi-finals on Sunday only to see their chances spoiled by some bad luck.  Most importantly, both teams showed great sportmanship and class on and off the ice.  As the Atom Rep coach, I had several opposing coaches tell me what a great, hard-working team I have.  I consider myself very lucky to be part of that group.

The PeeWee Rep team participated in a tournament in Goderich and while they didn't win, they learned some valuable lessons that translated into some big league wins after.  Good job boys!
The PeeWee Rep team is also having a bottle drive to help raise funds for future tournaments.  Information is available on our Facebook page so save those cans and bottles and help one of our teams out!

Thanks to Andrea Moulton for hosting the Train the Trainer Night last week.  Andrea stepped up this year to take on the Head Trainer role and I am very appreciative of that.

The Novice Program will be starting their Power Skating very soon.  This initiative was started a few years ago with funds donated by the Hammond family in honour of their son Justin.  We were very lucky to have Steve Barfoot run the program for the past few years and we sincerely thank him for his efforts and dedication to Arran-Elderslie Minor Hockey.  This year, Connor Patton will be taking the reins (he is a former student of mine) and I know he will bring a lot to this great program we are able to run for our Novice skaters.

Thanks again IceDog Nation for your dedication and love for our great sport.  Stay tuned for more updates as the season continues!
