Half way through play downs and undefeated
Playdowns, a whole new beast in the sport that these kids live, eat, and breathe!
Its anyones game, it comes down to who wants it most.
Our run up with the B centres I think have prepared us well and given us the extra drive we need to compete for the top spot, and after our first 3 games we are sitting in 1st. It's a great spot to be in but we know how quickly that can change. The boys can't get soft or take a night off. There is a lot of hockey left and they have their sights on the OMHAs.
Game one would see your Icedogs travel to Palmerston to face off against the Minto Mad Dogs now this game was very unique as your Icedogs got to experience a day in the life of "the 10 min misconduct", But over came all the penalty trouble and cruised to a 6-3 win with goals being scored by Landry W with 2, Jackson M, Connor H, Calhon U, and Hunter T all adding singles, Paysen H with a couple helpers.
Game 2 has your Icedogs travelling south on highway 21 to face the Goodrich Sailors, this game a lot like Mintos game with the same score seeing your Icedogs put up a 6-3 win however your U13s got off to slow start allowing the Sailors to score the first 2 but with a solid second half to the second and a full pull in the third Icedogs managed to steal the W. Goal scoring for this game Hunter T started us off short handed assisted by Landon S and Sawyer M, Sam F with a beautiful shot from the point gets the Icedogs second goal unassisted. Landon S nets 2 in the third with assists going to Connor H and Paysen H. Landry W and Kane W also score with the solo assist going to Connor H.
Now, Finally a home game for you fans, as the Huron Bruce Blizzard travelled north for a Monday night 7 pm start. Icedogs didn't not waste anytime in this home game with Calhon U scoring the first 2 goals to get the dogs rolling with the helpers going to Paysen H and Hunter T. Landry W puts home his 4th of the playoffs assisted by Hunter T to put the Icedogs up 3-0 after 1.
Blizzards managed to sneak one past little Jack T and that really got the fire going on the Icedogs bench and early into the second Kane W pots 2 assisted by Paysen H and Calhon U. Icedogs not done yet Jackson M decided he wanted to get in on the goals by pairs and scored his 2nd and 3rd of the playoffs with assists handed to Calhon U and Paysen H.
Third period was a little quieter on the scoring end of things which gave your Icedogs to focus on "Attention to detail, pucks deep, shoot biscuits, play the high guy, hold the line.... etc" as coach Brent says. To finish the night on an even to make it 8-1 Calhon U completes his hat trick with his 4th of the playoffs assisted by Linkin M. This game went 40 minutes without a penalty called, your Icedogs did everything right, and it was a great game to watch. Defence was strong, back checking in full force, the boys had fun. Playoffs, you gotta love it!!
Up next for your Icedogs they will travel to Drayton on Sunday March 3 for a 7pm game.
