1-2-0 to finish off Regular Season play
Icedogs were busy this past week having 3 games in 5 days.
Game 1 took place Wednesday February 7, 2024, This game was rather unique as we played in one of our home arenas, but as the visiting team.
A last minute rescheduled game saw us fall short to the Kincardine Kinucks 6-3. Scoring for your Icedogs were Landry W and Connor H unassisted, and D Landon S from Landry W.
Game 2 we were facing the top team in Tier 1 for the second half of the season. The Mid-Huron Huskies traveled to Tara on Friday night (Feb 9) this game began quietly with no mistakes and defensive hockey played in period one. Mid-Huron got themselves on the board first in the Second, but they decided from travelling a far they would put up 2. the Second period being 15 minutes in length, your Icedogs were able to rally back to get within one as Landry W nets his 12th of the season at 1:43. Third period was very similar to the first with neither team scoring and Icedogs lose this one 2-1 but kiddos said "that was a good loss".
Alright fans, Sunday afternoon in Chelsey 3:30 puck drop with Mama Bear Margie DJing for the fans in the stands. This game was the final game for our regular season with Icedogs hosting one of their southern rivals The Saugeen Valley Steelheads. Your U13s didn't waste any time as Landry W puts up 2 with assists going to Kane W, and Linkin M and the lone assist on laundry's second goal with was short handed and turned out to be the GWG assisted by Paysen H. That would wrap up the first period.
Second period seen your Icedogs well, one Icedog in some penalty trouble as Calhon U was serving his second of 3 penalties in the game the steelheads were able to claw one back while on the PP. Now for the 3rd, after the flood and well rested Icedogs hit the ice for the last 15. Steelheads were frustrated and took a penalty mid way through the 3rd and Connor H slides one by Steelheads tender, his 16th of the season on the PP with helpers going to Landry W, and Paysen H. Shout out to Liam M for joining us for Sunday afternoons matinee.
What great season this has been with an amazing hockey family. Icedogs are eager to get playoffs started as we travel to Palmerston on February 21 for a 7pm game to face the Minto Mad dogs.
