Back Home to Entertain the Crowd.
Back at home with 2 wins under their belt the Tara Legion
U18 Rep Ice Dogs hit the ice for their prime-time Sunday Night in Chesley tilt
with the South Bruce Blades. With a big
crowd on hand the home team was ready to entertain and dazzle all their fans.
As soon as the puck dropped, they were off and skating with a fast-paced offensive attack controlling most of the play until they were offered a power play where Emmett J put them on the board at the 9:04 mark and a 1 – 0 lead. Another chance on the PP was cut short near the end of the period with the home team trying a little too hard to gain the zone with Cayden H heading to the box for tripping. No scoring on the 4 on 4 and we were going to start the second period on the PK after a quick break.
The 2nd period started with a successful short penalty kill and then a goal from Max K to make it 2 – 0 at 10:52. The Ice Dogs continued to attack the Blades with a barrage of shots and went up 3 – 0 at 5:58 with Emmett J picking up the garbage in the crease. No penalties for either team in the second and the teams went to their rooms for the flood and their motivational inspiration.
The 3rd period was back and forth with strong goaltending on both sides with a penalty kill for each team and no scoring with the man advantages. The visitors would make it onto the scoresheet with the home team watching their goaltender stop 4 rebounds in a row and then get one past him on the 5th try without much defensive help. George P wasn’t going to give up trying for the 2nd part of a Gordie Howe hat trick with a 4 Minute major for head contact late in the period, but some were surprised how he did it considering the opponent was over a head taller. After tightening up the defense they would hold the Blades off the scoreboard for the 3 – 1 win.
