The Rust Is Off!
In front of a small crowd the AEMHA Tara Legion U18’s took to
the ice in their first game of the season.
It was an exhibition game in Hanover vs the Tier 3 Falcons to see where
we are at, what looks good and what needs some work.
When the puck dropped the Ice Dogs were flying right off the hop and were up 1 – 0 in no time. It was a laser from the point man Mitch H that made it through a maze of skates, legs and sticks to find the back of the net. One would think that it was going to be a night full of goals, but you will find out that was not the case.
It wasn’t long before we found out how the referees are going to call the physical play and we had a parade of players take a turn in the sin bin for a 2-minute cool down. Hanover had a few trips there as well, but no one could capitalize on their opportunities on the power play. The action was end to end with some posts and crossbars but nothing was going in.
Goaltending was strong with Tyson L seeing a lot of rubber with a squeaker finding its way through from an odd angle late in the 3rd period to tie it at 1 – 1. With a shorter bench than our competition we had to dig deep to find the energy to keep up the fight until the end, but the win wasn’t there for either team on this night.
Final score was 1 – 1.
Our first League Game will be Sunday Oct 16th in Chesley @ 7:30 PM vs Drayton
