U15 Rep IceDogs Fall to Lakers
With every excuse in the world to lay down to the top team in the League, your U15 Rep IceDogs didn't use one..
Coming off 3 games in 3 days -- all tough, close games -- the IceDogs took everything the Lakers could throw at them. The game was old-school rules (the new head contact, blindside, late hit rules did not seem to be applied) but the IceDogs took and took and gave it out too when they needed to.
The first period was a saw off as Owen W (IceDogs) and Jaxon K. (Lakers) played flawless goal and thwarted multiple chances by both teams. The Lakers would finally get on the board mid way through the 2nd off a scramble play that just eluded Owen W. Some close calls the other way just didn't bounce the IceDogs way or they just couldn't get to those juicy rebounds.
After a rest between periods, the IceDogs continued to prove they wouldn't back down. Despite some solid play, they gave up another goal and succumbed 2-0.
It was a disappointing result to a great weekend but the big picture was still very positive. We beat Drayton in a game our goalie stood on his head and we got him the win. We played very very well (maybe our best hockey of the season) in the game vs Goderich. And we hung in (and outplayed at times) a very good Shallow Lake team.
I could tell by the eyes in the room after that this one didn't sit well and we will be ready for our tournament next weekend.
