U13 REP Regular season wrapup

I likened the rest of the season to the Rocky 3 movie; we are at the top, and everyone is coming after us. After winning some tournaments and having our way in the regular season these Ice Dogs became a little full of themselves, and some bad habits crept in. Also, the lack of practice times due to making the International Silver Stick has not helped the coaching staff correct some of these bad habits. A very tired beat-up team entered a very busy schedule to end their regular season against teams ready to knock them down. A loss to the upstart Shallow Lake Lakers and a tie to another solid team in the Minto Mad Dogs and a little bit of uncertainty had entered their minds. But another close game with a lower seeded team, but a hard-working team in the South Bruce Blades after two periods was exactly what this team needed to wake up. After a very spirited pep talk in the second intermission and a reset of the minds at work and a reminder if you work hard the game is fun. The Ice Dogs came out rejuvenated in the third period and only let up one shot on net. We scored 3 and won 5-3 and most importantly got some of our mojo back.
Well, our last game of the season was against a very solid Mount Forest team, and we got all of our mojo back in this one. The Ice Dogs came out flying in this one and held almost all of the play from start to finish. We battled hard and won most puck battles and came away with a very solid 8-2 win.
These Ice Dogs have learned alot during the season. We came out of the gate as one of the hardest working teams in the league, but after a hefty schedule and some wins that maybe we did not deserve this team got complacent. But the last few games has reminded this team that you have to give it your all every shift every game. And as Apolo said in Rocky 3 "There is no tomorrow", you have to give it all you have in the moment. So lets have a great playoff Ice Dogs and never ever give up and you will have fun doing it.
