The boys came to play as they hosted the Lakers
Your AEMHA U15 Rep squad, hosted the Shallow Lake Lakers in Chesley on Sunday night as they hit the halfway point of the season.

With both teams just recently coming off exhibition wins versus the travelling Ingersoll group, it was back to business in the Chesley barn.

The first period was underway and it was evident from the drop of the puck, there was a lot of fight and determination in our group. The first period was a back and forth battle in both ends and the buzzer ended the first in a 0-0 draw.

Shallow Lake struck first at the 12 minute mark in the second.

Minutes later on the power play, the Lakers would increase their lead to two.

Tonight was not the night that the U15 Icedogs were going to lay down and play dead. Not phased by the 2 goal deficit our team pressed on. With an aggressive forecheck, Riley J netted our first goal which rallied our group and they all knew, this wasn't over yet.

Shallow Lake answered back with 4 minutes to go in the period.

Great offensive zone pressure allowed Avery D to pick up a juicy rebound with 3 minutes left in the 2nd to maintain the two goal deficit and we headed off for the flood.

The 3rd period was underway, and with Anderson G now watching from the sideline for a major infraction, it didn't take long for our opponent to strike. A puck up the gut in our own end lead to our opponent going ahead 4-2

Moments later, a self disciplined Levi W, removed himself from the ice on a questionable hit and we had to push on for the rest of the game down 2 defenders.

To make things even more challenging, Chris P on the ensuing penalty kill, blocked a shot off his wrist sidelining him for a few shifts. Upon returning to the ice, he was slashed in the same location making faceoffs challenging for the remainder of the game.

Riley J answered a late period Lakers goal by netting his second from some great offensive zone play by Owen M and Avery D.

The buzzer sounded and the end result was 5-3 for our opponent.

The score did not reflect the effort and attitude from our group.
Down 3 players for the majority of the 3rd, our lads pressed on and worked as a team did not give up.
There were many sweaty heads and a positive attitudes, and the atmosphere in the dressing room afterwards, was a great way to close out the first half of the season.
