U15 Rep IceDogs Defeat Ingersoll Express
The U15 IceDogs played host to the Ingersoll Express on Friday night in exhibition play.  The Express are on a whirlwind tour of Bruce-Grey County and will visit Shallow Lake and the Owen Sound Attack game later this weekend.

With Coach Kev sidelined due to a prior commitment, the IceDogs wanted to preform well for their Coach in his absence.  Coach Jon and Coach Bob gave a spirited pre-game talk to the D and Forward group and after a ceremonial puck exchange, the 'Dogs were ready to roll.

The first period had the IceDogs applying a strong forecheck and winning all the little battle all over the ice.  An unfortunate penalty to the IceDogs led to a defensive breakdown and the Express capitalized, sliding the 4th rebound behind back-up starter Dustin V.  The IceDogs might have bent, but they didn't break and replied with more sustained pressure--they just couldn't find the back of the net.....yet.

The 2nd periods started with a flurry of saves by Dustin V.  An Express shot from the blue line was blocked expertly by George I. and that sprang George P on a breakaway and he tucked it home to knot the game at 1's.  An IceDog power play midway through the frame would see George P and Riley J. work together to get Lucas W. the puck.  Lucas would rip home a low-hard shot through traffic and the IceDogs had a well-deserved 2-1 lead.  As the period came to a close, Spencer H. and Cayden H. cycled the puck down low, with Spencer driving the net.  In textbook Spencer fashion, he outworked every Express player on the ice and the puck found its way into the net for a 3-1 lead at the 2nd recess.

During the 3rd, acting Head Coach Jon asked for more of the same--outwork, play your position and win the battles.  The IceDogs checked all 3 boxes, and Dustin V. was sharp when called upon.  It was a complete effort from every player:  the line of Owen M-Nick P-Avery D. out checked the Express.  The line of Chris-Riley-Ryan played 3/4 of the game in the Express end with several scoring chances just going wide (and Parker did score a disallowed goal with time running out.)  And finally, the Cayden-George x2 line did all the little things right to create momentum for their squad.  Not to be outdone, the D-corps of Spencer, Levi, Tyler, Lucas and Anderson were rock solid and were positionally strong all night.

Well done boys!  Keep it simple and work together and there will be a lot more wins like that one in the future.
