U13 Rep IceDogs Close Out Round Robin with a Win
The U13 Rep IceDogs love hockey.  They love everything about it.  It shows in the dressing room and it shows on the ice.  I think sometimes they refuse to lose because they don't want the season to end.  On this night, they were off to Mitchell to close out their Round Robin play, looking to remain undefeated.

Mitchell had already been eliminated but were playing for pride and they had really improved from the beginning of the season.  They check hard and they play hard and it was a good test for the IceDogs early on.  The IceDogs poured it on but couldn't seem to get through a tough Mitchell defence.  Ethan S. would collect a puck off some good hard work by Owen M. and Carter M. and the IceDogs had the icebreaker 1-0.  Ethan would collect another puck on a turnover as the period was ending and fire a wrister by the Mitchell tendy for a 2-0 lead.

During the 2nd, there were several close calls, with Porter B. threading the needle to Brayden P. on a one timer--but the Mitchell goalie, as he did all night, came up huge.  Jesse and Porter would spring Brayden in a breakaway but he missed upstairs on the backhand.  Despite a marked edge in play, the IceDogs would have to settle for a 2-0 lead.

The third period was more of the same and the IceDogs dogged attack finally paid off.  A ringer off the post and some close calls were wearing the Mitchell team down and Owen M. would go backhand top cheddar for a 3-0 lead.  Mitchell got it back with a lucky bounce but Ethan S. would salt this one away with another and the IceDogs would head for home with a 4-1 win.

It was a pretty complete effort by your IceDogs, despite not winning going away.  They executed well and were usually the hardest working team out there.  They will need to keep that going as the games get a little bigger now.  A cross over matchup awaits after March Break--their opponent to be determined.
