IceDogs Hang On to Win in Battle of the IceDogs!
The IceDogs were off to Hensall to battle the BCH IceDogs in U13 Rep Division play on Sunday afternoon.  The drive to and from Hensall was a mirror of the game.  Like the first half of the game, the drive down was great - clear sailing.  Like the 2nd half of the game, the going was slow and kinda crappy.  Could have been worse but could have been better.

The IceDogs came out of the gate on fire, with the line of Ethan S-Porter B-Owen M. doing most of the damage on the scoreboard.  Ethan collected a pair of goals early with Carter M. scoring from the crease after Brayden P and Jesse P won a puck battle along the boards.  It was all Arran-Elderslie IceDogs as they got to pucks first, won puck battles and made all the little plays look easy.   It was 3-0 IceDogs at the first recess.

The second period started out all Arran-Elderslie...Ethan would get another 2 goals (beautiful goal and a lovely dish from Porter).  Owen M. would outwork 5 BCH IceDogs and get a greasy one and Porter scored a goal of his own with assist going to Waylon G.  And then, the tables turned.  Maybe the boys from Arran-Elderslie had emptied the tank or maybe BCH turned up the heat--but the tide turned.  Suddenly it was BCH getting to loose pucks first, winning one on one battles and scoring goals.  The score after 2 periods of play was 7-2 but there was still another period to play.

A few penalties slowed the IceDogs up a bit (even though they earned a 5 on 3 power play with some hard work)  but it was BCH scoring a PP goal of their own on some shoddy penalty kill work by Arran-Elderslie.

A win is a win and we got the 2 points on the road.  All the games aren't going to be Picasso's and this one could hardly be called one.  But they found a way to win and learned some lessons along the way.

Next up, the IceDogs host Saugeen Shores Storm--puck drop @ 7 pm in T-Town.
