Icedogs catch the old 81 and ride it all the way to the Championship
Saturday morning the U11 Rep Icedogs were up and at em early and on the road to Palmerston for a one day tournament.

First game had Icedogs meeting Howick. Again a quick first 10 minutes had a lot of end to end, Hunter T got us on the board first assisted by Jackson M at 4:49, just over 3 minutes later and only 1:14 left in the period Bennett B nets one assisted by Paysen H and Calhon U. Second period defence was strong and Jack T making some amazing saves, keeping Icedogs out of trouble, but to give us a little breathing room Hunter T buries one in net assisted by Bronson B, now Icedogs are up 3-0. Howick made some great attempts but couldn't capitalize on any. Going into the third and being up 3, Icedogs were determined to keep it going. Avery, Landon, Bronson, and Sam were all over them on defence, and keeping the puck in Howicks end, Calhon U took an opportunity to use the rebound to net one unassisted, 4-0 showing on the board. Again Jack making some great saves and keeping Howick off the board, Icedogs weren't done just yet. Netting 2 more Bennett B scores his second assisted by Hunter T and Connor H finishing the game with an unassisted goal making it a 6-0 final.
Game 2 we were up against Drayton, we were alittle worried when 16 players came out to the bench and some of those players were huge, but good things come in small packages... so the saying goes. First period was a flurry of action both teams fighting to get the puck out of their end, Icedogs would persevere and get on the board first with Landry W netting his first of the game unassisted. Drayton keeping on our heels and doing all they could to get on the board, but your Icedogs stood strong and shut them down. Connor H was up next, scoring another unassisted goal with just over 2 minutes left in the first giving us a 2-0 lead going into the 2nd. Second period was a lot more action even Bruce Willis would be proud. This period would see 5 goals in 10 minutes with Drayton ending Jack's shut out streak in the tourney. Up first for the Icedogs was Landry W at 7:29 assisted by Jackson M and then again at 5:26 Landry completes his hat trick assisted by Bennett B. 21 seconds later Calhon U nets one assisted by Hunter T and Bronson B. Drayton getting frustrated took 2 penalties giving Icedogs a 2 man advantage but we came up short.. Hunter T buries one assisted by Connor H and Jackson M giving Icedogs 6-0 lead. With 2 minutes left in the second Drayton sneaks one past Jack getting them on the board. Third period was a slower one for goals but not for the action, Drayton was all over us giving all they had they didn't go down without a fight. Jackson M finished off the goals for the game assisted by Connor H and Bronson B. Icedogs finish with the scoreboard showing 7-1. Off to the Championship game at 6pm to meet the Minto Mad Dogs, even their name sounds intimidating.
Sit down and Buckle up, the Mad Dogs meet the ICEDOGS. Lets skip to the good part. there was nothing fast about this game, the MadDogs are a force to be reckoned with, they were all over us, but your Icedogs did all they had to to keep Minto from scoring. First period would end showing 0's for both teams. Early into the second Connor H puts us on the board first assisted by Calhon U, Minto coming in hot trying every trick they had in the book, but defence and Jack were Solid. Second would end 1-0 for Icedogs. Third period was fast and furious, just 3 minutes in MadDogs get on the board to even out the score to 1 a piece. We sat tied for almost 6 minutes but Landry W knocked us up one assisted by Calhon U and Hunter T, then with 2:23 left Connor H scores the final goal unassisted. The clock ran out and the Icedogs skated away with their second well deserved CHAMPS title.. This group of U11 Reps is such a pleasure to watch, they have grown so much since their first game. Be proud of your kids parents, they are doing amazing things!!! Huge thank you to Minto for hosting such a great Tournament, everything ran smoothly, it was such a well run day. We met some great teams and had a lot of fun. Thank you for having us!
Icedogs next action is Thursday Dec 16 at the Tara Barn at 7:15pm where we host Kincardine Kinucks AE
