The Bantam IceDogs came out to play on Hockey Day against the TCDMHA Rebels. Missing a couple of Center-men Coach Chris shuffled the lines around to fill in the gaps.
The first period was full of great back and forth hockey. The two teams each getting chances to score the IceDogs Goaltender
Charlie G. not giving the Rebels anything to work with. When the first period was almost at the halfway mark
Ivor M. got things started with a beautiful unassisted goal! Less than two minutes later
Colby H. decided he needed his place on the scoresheet.
Austin G. also decided he needed a spot on the scoresheet taking a two minute vacation in the penalty box for cross checking. This did not slow down the IceDogs.
Josh E. and
Kiernan L. decided they should get two shorthanded goals ending period 1 with the IceDogs up 4-0.
In period two the IceDogs and Rebels decided to trade penalties instead of goals with the Rebels Layne E taking a body checking penalty and the IceDogs
Colby H. sitting for hooking. Not to be left out
Austin G. added tripping to his scoresheet tally.
The Rebels Coach's must have had a great pep talk in the dressing room between periods as the Rebels came back hard in the third. The IceDogs seemed to have lost their legs for the first few minutes. Jackson G. snuck one past
Charlie G. before the first minute was up. This did not stop
Ben M. from sneaking one in to the back of the Rebels net a few minutes later. This seemed to wake up the IceDogs who worked hard to keep the Rebels at bay for the rest of the period.
Gavin H. in the right place at the right time caught a wonderful rebound and scored the final goal of the game leaving the final score at 6-1 for the IceDogs.
What a great way to celebrate Hockey Day in AE. See you next time IceDogs!
