PeeWee LL End Season on a High Note!
Despite a 2-5 record in playoff Round Robin Play, the PeeWee LL2 IceDogs had played tough, close games (and probably that record could be reversed, with any luck at all!)  They closed out their season with a game vs the Saugeen Shores Storm.

Coach Julie put the lines in the blender to start things off on this night.  It didn't pay off right away however.  The games opening shift had the Storm scoring an early goal.  The IceDogs got that one back when Lance G. busted wide, creating open ice for himself.  The Storm couldn't catch up and Lance would bury the puck behind the Storm goalie to knot things up at one.  An unfortunate bounce late in the frame would allow the Storm to go up 2-1 but that was all the Storm would get on this night.

Nathan P. would collect a beautiful chip pass from Lance early in the second and go bar down for a beauty to get the 'Dogs back even at 2's.  Then newly annointed defenceman, Geroge I. would gather steam through the neutral zone and feed some backhanded sauce to Riley J for the 3-2 lead.  Randi-Lynn would park herself out front and refuse to be moved and Nathan and Lance would work together on the cycle to get her the puck for a goal (with Cousin Colt looking on!).  The score would stay 4-2 at the 2nd intermission.

The third period had the IceDog pouring it on now.  With Coach Julie's lines starting to gel, and more hard work, smart decisions and unselfish play led to another goal.  This time Tyler B. would read the play and work his way into the Storm zone.  With a defender blocking a pass to Ryan P, Tyler would rip a low hard shot that rebounded right to Ryan who would put it home and the IceDogs were cruising.  Riley J. would get another goal on his own rebound after some nifty deking got him into a scoring position.  The IceDogs would win their final game of the WOAA season 6-2.

All in all, it was probably the IceDogs most complete effort of the season and put a nice cap on a season that was full of highs and lows.  The IceDogs head to Grimsby for a season ending tournament next week (hopefully!) and if they play like they did tonight, they should be a team to be reckoned with!
