Tough Luck in Hanover for IceDogs
The PeeWee LL 2 IceDogs were off to Hanover to play another Hanover squad on Saturday evening.  Fresh off a convincing 5-2 win, the IceDogs were looking to keep their hot play going.

The Achilles heel of this team is when they try to do everything by themselves and that was evident again in the first period of play as the IceDogs skated into Falcon checkers, resulting in turnovers and 3 goals against, despite the red hot play of Dustin V.  But this team has shown they can play hockey the right way and they vowed to change things in the next 2 periods.

Coach Julie pleaded for passing and using their skating legs to elude checks and the team responded.  Suddenly, it was the IceDogs checking the Falcons into the ice and using turnovers to their advantage as they peppered the Falcon goalie, who was equal to the task.  Several hard luck bounces just didn't go the IceDogs way but they were playing the right way.  Tyler B. led the charge with a beauty rush, a Gretzky curl and a feed to a trailing Lance G. who used Ryan P. as a screen and ripped a hard-low shot to get the IceDogs on the board.  The chances were coming and Colby L. made some valiant efforts to get the IceDogs another goal but the Falcon goalie would have none of it.  It remained 3-1 Falcons after two.

The IceDogs played even better in the third and several rushes went off posts or were turned aside by the Hanover net minder.  Riley J and Ryan P. connected on a 2 on 1 that had the crowd buzzing but a rolling puck just wouldn't cross the goal line.  The IceDogs didn't quit until the final buzzer and served notice that when they play the right way, they are a force to be reckoned with.

The IceDogs have a busy weekend of hockey coming up as they travel to Brussels on Saturday and host these same Falcons on Sunday.  With a couple of practices in between, the IceDogs should be ready to roll come the weekend!
