A Tie and a Loss over the Weekend for PeeWee LL IceDogs
The PeeWee LL IceDogs had another busy weekend of hockey with trips to Hanover and Wingham this weekend.

Saturday, it was off to the Hanover Coliesum with a game vs the Falcons.  The IceDogs came roaring out of the gate, shaking off the Christmas turkey early.  Riley J. would send a beautiful seam pass to a streaking Ryan P. in the first shift of the game.  Ryan would take a page out of his Dad's book and go forehand-backhand to give the 'Dogs an early 1-0 lead.  Hanover would get that one back but Ryan would strike again after battling hard for a Riley J. blast rebound and sliding it home.  The 'Dogs would nurse the 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Hanover rebounded with a stronger 2nd period but Nathan P. got the IceDogs a 2 goal cushion with a snipe from the slot.  Hanover would get that one back but Ryan P. would complete the hat trick with a Gretzky curl blast from the top of the circle and the IceDogs had the 2 goal lead back.  Hanover would turn on the jets and get the next 3 to take a one lead as the IceDogs took their foot off the gas and would have to battle back in this one.

The IceDogs were struggling to find their game and began to try some one and done rushes that resulted in turnover and Hanover chances.  But, the IceDogs didn't quit and George I. would blast home a loose puck to knot things up at 5.

This one would end in a 5-5 tie and the IceDogs would get ready for a Sunday game vs. Wingham.

The IceDogs started this game vs Wingham they way they ended the game in Hanover.  Solo rushes that resulted in turnovers that ended up in the back of the net this time.  Despite drawing a couple penalties early, it was the Wingham squd doing all the scoring as the IceDogs just couldn't get it going.  As the 2nd period horn sounded, the IceDogs found themsleves trailing 4-0 and not playing their game at all.

Whatever Coach Julie said in the third definately hit the mark as the IceDogs completely turned things around.  George I. would score off a pass from Bryson R. and then Ryan P. banged home a loose puck off a Lance G. rebound.  The IceDogs had the puck on their stick a lot more and were playing a team game which resulted in a pretty well played period of hockey.  They might have lost the game 5-2 but they just might have found a winning formula going forward in the game ahead!!
