IceDogs Firing on All Cylinders in Playoff Win!
Something has happened to your Atom Rep IceDogs;  they have that look in their eye and for those that are lucky enough to watch this team play, it shows on the ice.

On a spring-like Saturday morning, the IceDogs made the trek to Monkton to face the Central Perth Predators.  The Preds have played the IceDogs tough and do not quit but the IceDogs were ready for them.

Right out of the gate, the IceDogs came out flying.  Karden C. would pick off a puck at the blueline and faking a shot before sliding a beautiful pass to a waiting Brayden P.  Brayden would rip a shot from the circle but the Pred goalie would make an unbelievable stick save to keep the game at zeroes.  Shortly after, Ethan S. would collect a loose puck and rip a backhander on the net.  Owen M. would gather up the rebound and go backhand 5-hole for the games opening goal.  More pressure and hard-checking would lead to Ethan picking up the puck again and this time feeding Owen M. for another goal and the IceDogs were up 2-0 at the first recess.

Coach P had broken the game down into 3 segments and the first segment was a beauty (in the eyes of the Coaches anyway!).  The 2nd period was more of the same as the IceDogs pressured the Preds into mistakes and peppered the Pred tender.  Owen M. would complete the natural hat trick with a rush down his left wing and ripping a hard, low wrister through the goalie.  Despite carrying the play, there were no more goals scored and the IceDogs had to settle for a 3-0 lead.  2 periods down, 1 period to go.

The 3rd period had the IceDogs getting rewarded on the scoresheet for the hard-work.  An IceDog powerplay didn't last too long as Brayden P danced around a defender and fed Jesse P.  Jesse would fire a hard shot that the Pred goalie couldn't control and Owen M. would put home the rebound for his 4th tally of the game.  The Preds would get that one back but Carter G. would stop the bleeding by collecting a loose puck after a smart dump-in by Hudson J.  Carter would race out of the corner and go top shelf for a lovely snipe.  Ian M. would dance through the neutral zone and deke everyone out (including a very angry Zamboni driver) before going top bunk for a lovely goal of his own.  Brayden P would cap the scoring with a rip job off the cross bar and in.

It was a very solid team win in many ways.  Jesse P and Karden C. were outstanding defensively, reading plays and picking off passes. Alek F. was lights out on the point and could have had a couple of goals of his own with any luck.  Simon J. made a lot of little plays that might not show up on the scoreboard but the coaches sure noticed.  And, Peyton L wasn't busy but made the saves when he needed to for the win.  It was nice to see the team get rewarded on the scoreboard for doing all the little things right.  And it's the little things that will take this team to the next level as they look to book their ticket into the next round.
