Atom Rep IceDogs Put a Scare into the Blizzard
Round 2 of the OMHA preliminary series between the Atom Rep IceDogs and Huron-Bruce Blizzard was Thursday night in T-Town.  The Blizzard are one of the top teams in Southwestern Ontario but these IceDogs have never backed down from a challenge.

The Blizzard were used to the wide open spaces of Lucknow and Ripley and the friendly confines of the the Tara Arena suited the IceDogs just fine as they are undefeated there.  Showing a tonne of heart and hustle the IceDogs came to play and checked the Blizzard at every turn.  The P-man, Peyton L. was in all-star form and turned aside the Blizzard shooters and giving his team a chance.  An unfortunate bounce ended up behind the IceDog goalie for 1-0 lead but for those in attendance, the IceDogs were full marks for a good first period.

The 2nd period was even better and Karden C. (looking like a combination of Erik Karlson and Ray Bourque) clanged iron to get the 'Dogs close.  Brayden P. had some quality rushes that the Blizzard net minder turned aside. Ethan S. and Jesse P. were shutting down the Blizzard sharp shooters and frustration was building in the Blizzards game.  They began to take some penalties and the work ethic of the IceDogs began to pay dividends.  It didn't show on the scoreboard, but the IceDogs had their game going and just needed one to get even.

The 3rd period started with a flurry of IceDog activity in the Blizzard end zone but still, no goals to show.  The tenacity and and legs began to wain and the Blizzard are too good a team to back down from.  When the IceDogs weren't skating, the Blizzard capitalized and eventually won 4-0.  Despite the score, for those in attendance, the IceDogs gave the Blizzard all they could handle.  Serving notice, these IceDogs don't know the meaning of the word quit--bring it on Blizzard, we got you one more time in Paisley on Monday--and we will be ready!!!
