IceDogs Scrape By Blades!
The Atom Rep IceDogs (otherwise known as the Hard Luck Kids) were hosting the Blades of South-Bruce on Monday night in T-Town.  Looking sharp in their new toques, the IceDogs were looking to getting their mojo back and earning a W.

The IceDogs were all a fire from the get go in this one.  With a few coaching tweaks and rookie call-ups Owen W. and Waylon G. in the lineup, the IceDogs had the ice tilted early and often.  Brayden P. would collect a loose puck off the boards, wheel into the slot and fire a top shelf beauty to break the ice.  A few more pucks almost found the back of the net but it was the Blades getting a bounce and knotting things up a one at the first intermission.

The second period had the IceDogs keeping up the pressure and pounding pucks toward the net.  Ian M. would win a battle on the wing and get the puck toward the Blades net.  Jesse P. would pounce on the rebound and bury it to get the IceDogs a well deserved lead.  Some great saves by the Blades netminder was all that kept this one from being a blow-out as the 2nd period horn sounded.

The third period was more of the same and the line of Carter-Jesse-Brayden were buzzing all around the Blades zone and just missing on some chances.  Owen-Ethan-Ian would get in on the action after Karden C. made a great play to keep the puck alive and inside the zone.  Ian would fire another shot on net and Owen M. would bury the rebound and the IceDogs had a 2 goal lead!  But, this Atom Rep IceDog team doesn't do things the easy way and a fortuitous bounce ended up in the IceDog net and it was white knuckle time at the Tara Cyclone Taylor Arena.  The IceDogs were bending but not breaking and Peyton L. had to be sharp a few times to bring this one home.  Hudson and Alek were rock solid leading the D-corps as the final minutes ticked away.  It took one more "glovely" save from Peyton to put the two points in the bank.

Great job IceDogs!  We tried some new wing combinations and our centres were playing on the defensive side of the puck to keep the Blades chances to one and done.  We can feel good about this one for a bit but we have a serious grudge match coming up on Friday when Bruce Penn comes to town...get some sleep, and drink lots of water IceDogs--big game on the horizon!!!
