We Showed Up, We Played Hard, We WON!!
Icedogs traveled to Mildmay early Sunday morning for the South Bruce Novice C Rep Tournament.
Icedogs came out ready to play in the first game scoring 7 goals in the first period with all hands contributing to goals and assists. Icedogs battled end to end in the second period and let Sweet Willy Hampton perform his job in the crease. 3rd period saw the Icedogs net 3 more goals finishing the scoring off and leaving things with a commanding 10-2 win over the Wingham Jr Ironmen.
After a hearty team breakfast the Icedogs took on Blyth for game 2 and a must win scenario, once again Icedogs dominated the first and the second period jumping ahead with a 7-2 lead, once again with goals and assists spread amongst the team. Sweet Willy Hampton managed to hold Blyth off the score board in the third period while the icedogs netted 4 more, ending the game with an 11-3 win.
Up next Icedogs met their cross town rivals the Rebels for the Championship game, both teams came out of the gates with championship game determination. TCD got on the score board first but our Icedogs answered right back with Hunter Thompson netting our first goal assisted by Avery Wathke. Both teams battled hard back and forth but at the end of 2 the score remained 1-1. Just 1 min and 18 sec into the third Jordie Stephen picks up a rebound from a Paysen Hamel shot on net and buries it making it 2-1, then 1 minute later TCD knotted it back up 2-2. Icedogs won battles and used their power take off skating ability to get the puck in deep and Jackson Mannerow picked up the loose puck and buried it with a back hander in the top right corner with just 40 seconds left in the third, which was the game winner that lifted the Icedogs to their Championship win..
Next up the Icedogs travel to Lucknow Wednesday night for a 6pm game. Go Icedogs Go!!
