IceDogs Down Attack
The AEMHA PeeWee LL IceDogs were on the road again, this time heading to Owen Sound to take on the Attack in a Sunday afternoon matinee.  With the stands full of Attack Scouts looking for the next big star, Coach Chris was preaching an "attack first" mentality and the IceDogs didn't disappoint.

The two teams seemed to be feeling each other out in the early going as the play was bit scrambly and there didn't seem to be a lot of open ice, despite the large playing surface.  Hulking defence-man Austin G. would change all that with a rush and a goal to open the scoring.  A too many man on the ice penalty to Owen Sound would result in an IceDog power play goal.  Larkin G. would keep the puck in at the blue line where Austin G. collected the loose puck.  Drawing the defender toward him, Austin would feed a wide open Erik G. and Erik would snipe his second goal in as many games to give the IceDogs a 2-1 lead at the first intermission.

The IceDogs would take a 3-1 lead midway through the 2nd.  Dominick E. would keep the puck in the blue line and fire a hard shot toward the net.  Erik G. would deflect the puck neatly to Ryan P who went top shelf with a hard wrister.  The Attack would get that one back but the IceDogs were still carrying the bulk of the play.

The line of Larkin G-Erik G. and Ryan P would get the IceDogs their two goal lead back early in the 3rd period, just as some fans had settled back into their seats.  Erik would pursue the loose puck in the corner and feed Ryan P in the slot.  Ryan's shot would be blocked but Larkin would collect the rebound and bury it to keep the line red-hot.  Once again, the Attack would get within a goal but Austin G. would get a carbon copy goal to his first to book-end a very good game for the blue liner.   With Dusty "Puckstopper" manning the crease and making some hi light reel saves, the IceDogs would skate away with a 5-3 win.

It was another complete team effort with all forward units and D units contributing on all fronts.  When this team plays as a unit, they are proving to be a very hard team to beat....and just in time for the playoffs too.
