IceDogs Fall to Kinucks
The AEMHA PeeWee LL IceDogs hosted the Kincardine Kinucks on Sunday evening. Fresh off a big win the IceDogs were looking to build some momentum heading into the Christmas Break.
The IceDogs came out a bit tentative at first but after being on the receiving end of some big hits, they got their dander up and began to play. The play was fairly even for most of the first but the Kinucks would get a fortunate bounce and take a 1-0 lead as the period came to a close.
The IceDogs got into a bit of penalty trouble in the 2nd and it seemed to disrupt their mojo. Play got a bit scrambled and Kincardine would pounce on another fortunate bounce to take a 2-0 lead. But the IceDogs weren't quitting and began to tilt the ice as the 2nd period horn sounded.
After some second intermission soul-searching, the IceDogs came out of the gate hot. Ryan P would win a face-off (after some great coaching advice ;-)) and get the puck back to Austin G. Austin has been saucing some nice passes lately and this time took the puck the length of the ice and rip one by the Kincardine net minder to get the IceDogs on the board. The IceDogs almost capitalized again and were coming on strong but another unfortunate bounce found the back of the IceDog net and they trailed 3-1 late in the game. With the IceDogs pressing, Kincardine would grab a turnover and score a late one and take the game 4-1.
Not the result they wanted or maybe even deserved but the IceDogs were full-marks for supporting one another on the bench and on the ice. With teamwork like that, it is only a matter of time before this team starts stringing some wins together.
Next up, the IceDogs travel to Shallow Lake once again to take on another Laker squad.
