IceDogs Sink the Lakers!
The AEMHA PeeWee LL IceDogs braved the snowy roads to Shallow Lake on Saturday to tangle with the Shallow Lake Lakers. And they didn't disappoint.
Coach Chris gave a passionate speech before the game for all IceDogs to bring everything they had in this one and the IceDogs delivered right out of the gate.
While the first period was a 0-0 tie for the bulk of the time, the IceDogs peppered the Laker goalie with shots and carried the play. With time ticking down, Avery D. would dig out a puck and feed Daemyn E., who delivered a cannonading drive to the back of the net to get the IceDogs the well deserved lead.
The second period saw the 'Dogs go up 2-0 when Austin G. hit Larkin G. with a pass. She would streak into the Laker zone and fire a hard low wrister off a Laker defender and ricochet into the net. The Lakers would bounce back with a couple of power play goals to tie it up but that was all they could muster. Captain Colby would score on his patented rush to put the IceDogs up 3-2 at the 2nd recess.
The IceDogs came out in the third determined to get the victory and right off the bat, Avery D. would bang home a rebound from Colby's big shot to get the 'Dogs a 4-2 lead they wouldn't relinquish. Noah J. had to be sharp a few times and made the big saves when he had to. Not even the score clock guy could help the Lakers in this one and the IceDogs would cruise to a 4-2 victory.
Nice work 'Dogs---let's bring the same effort Sunday when the Kinucks invade the Chesley Arena--6 pm puck drop.
