Atom Rep IceDogs Earn Charater Win in Keady!
The AEMHA Atom Rep IceDogs travelled the slick roads to Keady last night to battle their arch-rivals from TCDMHA. These two teams will see a lot of each other over the coming weeks.
The IceDogs had all units humming last night right out of the gate. Relentless checking, skating and heads-up play kept the home-town Rebels on their heels most of the night. Owen W. had to be sharp a few times but harmlessly controlled his rebounds and kept the Rebel attack to one and done.
Owen M, playing centre for the first time this season and was tremendous. His smart, skilled play gave his wingers countless opportunities to score and Lucas S. would deliver with a hard-working goal mid-way through the first. The score was 1-0 after one period of play.
The Rebels would counter with some pressure in the 2nd period, but the IceDogs would not break. The score would continue to be 1-0 as the 2nd period horn sounded.
The third period saw the IceDogs turn up the heat on the Rebels and it paid off in spades. Carter G. would collect a turnover, deke around a defender and fire a laser off the post and in to notch first goal of the season. Carter's goal seemed to inspire his teammates and Riley J would gallop the length of the ice and score a hi-light reel beauty to put the IceDog up by 3. The IceDogs would continue to pour on the pressure and keep the Rebels at bay. Make the final 3-0 IceDogs.
A great character win IceDogs...lots of things went right because of your hard-work. Nice for Owen W. to notch his 2nd SO of the year. Let's keep the snowball rolling in the right direction as we head into our Tournament....and the playoffs are just around the corner.
