Revenge of the Attack
November 23, 2017

It was a miserable night outside with the Attack Gold heading to T-Town to extract some revenge for the loss suffered by their comrades earlier by the Ice Dogs White.  The stands were full in anticipation of the epic battle that was about to unfold.

The first period was a dandy one of back and forth hockey which was started off by the Ice Dogs White's Kaden C sneaking a beauty past the Attack Golds goalie from a great feed by Leithan B at 9:38 in the first.  The Attack struck back 29 seconds later to keep the score at 1-1.  The Ice Dogs could sense that this was going to be their toughest battle yet.  The Attack continued to pressure the Ice Dogs in their zone and even the best efforts of netminder Owen W couldn't stop them from increasing their lead to 2-1 with 7:21 remaining in the first.  The Attack kept the forecheck alive and notched another one to put the score at 3-1.  This seemed to light a fire in Ice Dog's Chris P who made some dazzling moves around the Attack and eventually freed up fellow defence Anderson G who put a laser beam past the Attack goalie sending a message that the Ice Dog's wont quit and making the score 3-2 for the Attack.

The Attack, themselves determined to increase their lead started the second period off with a bang scoring and insurance goal 11 seconds into the period.  With the Ice Dogs White down 4-2 at this point the team knew that they were going to have to dig deep to stay in this one.  Rachel L freshly back from the injured reserve took this to heart and set up a beauty play with a solid pass over to Lucas S who then fed it over to rookie Sean W who scored his first goal of the season with 8:08 left in the second.  The crowd went crazy for the rookie...The rest of the second continued with both sides applying pressure but keeping the game at 4-3 for the Attack at the sound of the buzzer.

The third period started off as all Ice Dogs White with Lucas S getting one unassisted at 8:49 to tie the game at 4-4.  Chris P, Cole L and Lucas S kept the pressure on in the Attacks zone during the power play advantage and eventually Cole L put one past the Attack's goalie to give the Ice Dogs the lead once again for a score of 5-4.  Tyler B and Nayal M were solid on defense after some hard pressure by the Attack following the Ice Dogs go ahead goal.  Dylan P and Ryan S were no different the following shift shutting down the oncoming assault by the Attacks forwards clearing the zone and forcing a face off in the Attack's zone.  Next up for the Ice Dogs were Leithan B, Nathan P and Chris P and they made no mistake of increasing the lead with Chris P putting a dandy past the Attack's sprawling goalie taking the lead to 6-4.  The Attack to their credit showed no quit and eventually clawed their way back to take the Ice Dog's lead to within 1.  With less than a minute left in the game the Attack pulled their goalie and were able to get their sixth attack in to slip past the Ice Dog's and slid one past to tie the game with 13 seconds left in the third.  What a tough way to lose the lead but a great lesson for the Ice Dogs to take forward in the future that you are never out of a game.  The game ended in a tie and what a beauty.

Next up for the Ice Dogs is the Saugeen Shores Storm 3 on their home turf in Southampton for a Saturday bang up.  Looking forward to seeing all you fans out there...
