Taking the Attack head on...
November 4, 2017

It was a sunny start to a Saturday hockey game where the AEMHA Ice Dogs White looked to continue their win streak against the Owen Sound Attack Junior Gold.  You could feel the buzz within the arena when the Ice Dogs first took the ice.

The Ice Dogs came out flying in the first period with some great offensive pushes, but the Attack held their ground.  Owen W was solid in net when the Attack did make it into the Ice Dogs end, fending off a flurry of shots before the buzzer rang.  Tyler B and Anderson G were quick to clear the Attack players away from the Ice Dogs goalie to ensure that the score remained 0-0 at the end of the first.  The Ice Dogs quickly realized that this was not going to be an easy game for them to come out with the W, and that they would have to turn on the jets in the second to ensure victory.

It was all Ice Dogs to start off the second with a great first shift by Chris P, Kaden C, and Nathan P at forward taking the puck into the Attack zone and getting a whistle to have the face off in their zone.  The Ice Dogs centre Cole L won the face off draw back to Dylan P.  Dylan P saw an open Leithan B on the goalies week side and slide one over to him.  Leithan didn't miss on the opportunity and buried it top cheese to put the Ice Dogs up 1-0 at 8:43 in the second.  What a great way to start off the second....The second period continued with some good forechecking by the Ice Dogs forwards and the ever steady defensive presence of Nayal M and Ryan S. At the sound of buzzer to end the second period the Ice Dogs lead remained unchanged at 1-0.

The third period started out pretty much the same way as the second with the Ice Dogs applying some heavy pressure in the Attack zone which resulted in a great feed from defence Tyler B over to Nick P who didn't miss his chance to drive it home past the Attack's goalie to put the Ice Dogs up 2-0 at 13:58.  The Attack weren't ready to give up and started with a dump and chase approach against the Ice Dogs which seemed to throw off their game for the better half of the third period.  Owen W stood tall and kept the shut out alive with the Ice Dogs taking the win 2-0.

All in all, it was a hard fought game by both sides but the win has resulted in extending the Ice Dogs White unbeaten streak to 3 games.  Next up for the Ice Dogs White are the Owen Sound Attack Junior Red who are looking to extract some revenge for defeating Attack Gold.  Looking forward to seeing you out for the next battle....
