Arran-Elderslie Minor Hockey received a very generous donation from the Hammond Family of Chesley in memory of their son Justin. This donation comes from proceeds of last November's "Crushing the Stigma" benefit game and dance held in Chesley. The event was put on to raise awareness and to help "Crush the Stigma" surrounding mental health. Justin was an active participant in minor sports in Chesley. Organizers of the event wanted all proceeds of the event to go to Justin's favourite childhood organizations Arran-Elderslie Minor Hockey and Chesley Minor Ball.
For the 2017/2018 hockey season Minor Hockey has chosen to spend a portion of this donation offering an 8 week power skating / skill development program for all Novice teams. The program will begin on Friday October 6th and continue every Friday until Nov 24th at the Chesley Community Centre. It is expected that many or all of our novice players will use this great opportunity to advance their skating ability and improve on their skating skills. Minor Hockey encourages each player to take advantage of this program with hopes of it continuing in future seasons.
