Playoff Game #1 - IceDogs Hang On to Down Attack
The Novice White IceDogs made their 2nd visit in a week to the Julie McArthur Rec Centre to take on Owen Sound Attack Gold in Game #1 of the Round Robin Playoffs.

The Attack had won the previous match against the IceDogs 3-2 a few weeks back and the IceDogs were hungry to avenge that loss.  It was a see-saw battle to begin the game as both teams traded chances.  Brayden P would get a pass up the boards from Vivian W. and send Jesse P away with a bank pass.  Jesse, looking like Brad Marchand would fly down the wing and tuck one home to give the IceDogs the lead.  The Attack would strike back with a beauty of their own on a wrap around and knot things up at 1 at the first recess.

The second period started with Brayden P and Porter B. checking and working hard to strip the Attack of the puck and get the puck to Marchand, I mean Jesse, who would go up and over the Attack tender for a 2-1 lead.  Once again, the Attack showed their resilience and made a dandy deke to tie things up at 2 as the 2nd period wound down.

The third period was when #35 Vivian W. showed she came to play.  Looking like Big Chara, Vivian was tracking down anyone in a white sweater who dared cross her blue line.  Waylon G. was looking like a young Ray Bourque as he moved the puck smartly up the boards to his wingers.  Brayden P was winning face-offs and checking ol' #11 like Patrice Bergeron.  All the IceDogs were doing the little things right and it paid off when Jesse broke in all alone and gave the IceDogs the lead 3-2.  With time winding down, it was time for Vivian to make another great play to thwart a last ditch effort by the Attack and help give the IceDogs a 3-2 win in game 1 of the playoffs.

Hats off to Dylan L. for a solid performance in net as he made all the big saves.  The line of Jake F., Carter M., Ashley and Joey W. would hem the Attack in their own end all night long.  And last, but not least, Cohen H. and Quinn C. made all the smart plays that didn't go unnoticed by the coaching staff and the die-hard fans in the stands.

Next up, the IceDogs will tangle with the Saugeen Shores Storm #1 in Game 2--6:00 puck drop at the Southampton Coliseum...get there early folks, could be standing room only!
