IceDogs White Fall to IceDogs Black
It was a battle of the 'Dogs at the Tara Cyclone Taylor Arena on Monday night. These two teams were red hot and it definitely lived up to the hype.
IceDog Black proved they came to play by hemming the White Team inside their own end for the first 3 shifts and took advantage of an errant pass to take a 1-0 lead. With the White Team on their heels a bit, the Black squad took advantage of another break and were up 2-0 at recess.
IceDog White showed their mettle in the second as they began to push back. After several chances (and some outstanding saves by Black net minder Aiden!) the White Team finally broke through when Brayden P went post and in after some hard work by Jesse P along the boards. Jake F. had a couple of chances to knot the game at 2's but Aiden stood tall and shut the door. Another IceDog White turnover led to the Black Team getting a shot away that hit the post. With the puck on the goal line, it was the Black Team that got it first to go up 3-1 as the second period came to a close.
The third period was all IceDog White as they peppered Aiden with shots but he deftly turned them aside. Dylan L. showed he knows a thing or two about goaltending and made some big saves on breakaways to give the White Team a chance. The White Team threw everything they had at the net but couldn't get the puck across the line and the Ice Dog Black Team would skate away with the victory, 3-1.
A very good effort despite the loss and a few lessons learned as we head into the playoffs.
