Novice Rep IceDogs Take Game 1
This afternoon was the start of the final round of the 2017/18 playoffs.  The final round is a best 2 of 3 against the Mount Forest Rams.

After a well deserved week off,  the Novice Rep IceDogs took to the ice today in Paisley for game 1 against the Mount Forest Rams.

From the first face off, both teams showed they were ready to go.  Whatever happened in the past between these two was in the past.  It was a new series and both were ready to play.  The IceDogs battled hard and started throwing everything thing they had at the Ram goalie - only to watch him make save after save.  3 minutes into the game on a scramble around the Ram net, Ian. M fired one that made it through some sticks and legs and found the back of the net.  The lead was short lived as less than a minute later the Rams battled back, fighting for a loose puck on the side boards and carried it into the IceDogs end blasting it by goalie Peyton L.  Less than a minute left in the first period Owen M grabbed a loose puck in the Ram end, went behind the net, faked one way and went the other and wrapped in a beauty to put the Rep IceDogs up by one again.  The Rams showed they were not ready to give up just yet.  With 3.2 seconds on the clock they fired another one into the IceDogs net to finish the first period tied at 2.

The second period was much the same as the first.  Lots of shots on the Ram net only to be stopped.  The Rep IceDogs defense decided to take matters into their own hands. With the forwards getting frustrated seeing their shots being stopped, the defense started to rush the puck up the ice making spectacular end to end rushes. Near the end of the second Alek F. grabbed the puck in his own end, made some nifty moves to get out of his end and was away to the races.  He rushed down the left side and drove to the net firing the puck as he went.  The puck bounced off a Ram defenseman stick and found its' way to the back of the net for the Rep IceDogs to go up by one again.

Early in the third the Rams tied the game with a blast from the blue line that found the top part of the net.  Now it was game on.  That seemed to give the Rams a little confidence.  They started to press a bit however the Rep IceDogs defensemen held the line, protected their goal and kept the play in the corners.  Goalie Peyton L. made saves when he needed to.

With less than 3 minutes to go in the third, D Man Carter G. took a pass from his partner Hudson J. at his own blue line.  Then he proceeded to go through everyone on the Ram team and as well his own teammates and fired one short side for the Rep IceDogs to go up by one again.  Defenseman Braden N. decided that if his partners could do that, well then he could too.  He stopped a clearing play at the Rams blue line and then made 2 or 3 nifty moves and carried the puck down low wasting precious time.  Eventually the Rams pulled their goalie but were still not able to get a shot on net.  Game ended for a big win for the Rep IceDogs 4-3.

Good game guys now on to Mount Forest Thursday night for game 2!

Should be a good one.
