Novice Rep IceDogs Finish Top of the Heap in Second Round
This afternoon the Novice Rep IceDogs met up with the West Grey Warriors in the final round robin game in the second round.

This round robin series was a tight one.  After playing each team once, all three had the exact same record.  After 5 games, two teams were tied with the same record.  If after this the final game all three were tied, then it would have been interesting to say the least...

The Novice Rep IceDogs seemed to be motivated because of this or just because they are having a ton of fun playing some of their best hockey of the season.  Whatever the reason, these kids came out and took it to the visiting Warriors.

Ethan S. blasted 4 past the West Grey goalie including a nifty little forehand backhand top shelf number that had the crowd buzzing.  One may say though the goal of the year so far may have to go to bruising defensemen Carter G., who stole the puck at the red line danced past 2 Warrior players, then shifted laterally by a third to blow one past the Warrior goalie.  Was a thing of beauty!

This was another great team effort.  From the smart play of Braden N., to the aggressive digging of Anthony K. and Gryphon B., to the spectacular rushes of Alek F. and Hudson J.,  the Rep IceDogs pressed and pressured the Warriors all game and never gave up.  Passing plays between Owen M., Karden C. and Gryphon B., kept the Warrior goalie on his toes and making great saves.  What was even better than the 4 goal performance of Ethan S., was his work ethic today - getting back and breaking up plays in his own end.  Ian M. showed he had a set of hands by having them work their a magic to get around a couple and have some strong shots on net. Goalie Peyton L. had a strong showing making saves when they were needed and directing traffic from the back end.

Game ended in a 5-1 win for the Novice Rep IceDogs who finished atop of the pile in the second round. Great job guys. Enjoy it and let's get ready for the final against Mount Forest!
