Best Team Effort of the Year
On Sunday the Walkerton Capitals headed into Paisley to face the Novice Rep IceDogs for the final regular season.  Sure was a dandy!

The IceDogs came ready to play on Sunday.  Ready to show to each other that they were willing to do what it takes to play a great game.  From the drop of the puck in the first period the IceDogs were hungry and put pressure on the Capitals whenever they could.  In some cases they kept the play in the Capitals end for entire shifts.  When the Capitals were able to get the puck into the IceDog end, they were met with strong defense who battled strong along the boards and were able to move the puck up to the forwards and back out again.

After a scoreless first period, Ian (I have to work on my celly) M.   took a pass from Hudson J. and  buried one short side for the IceDogs to break the scoreless tie.

In the third, the IceDogs did not let up.  They kept the play in the Capitals end for most of the game.  The Capitals finally solved the IceDog defense and fired one past goal Peyton L. with 2 minutes to go in the game to tie it up at one.  That's how the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

The forwards played great. Checking, making plays and getting shots to the net.  As well the defense stood their ground in the opposing end and as well made it very tough for the Capitals forwards to get any room to make plays.  When they did, goalie Peyton L. stood his ground and made the save.

This was the best team effort all year.  With their 7th tie of the season, it is almost fitting that the IceDogs move into a tie for third place in the standings.

This group has shown considerable improvement from the beginning of the regular season.  They are now a faster, smarter and very enthusiastic bunch of hockey players!

Let's now see what the playoffs will bring!!!

Great job!!!
