Tough Battle Vs the Capitals
On Sunday afternoon, the Novice Rep Ice Dogs headed down the road to Walkerton for a matinee game against the Capitals. It was quite the show.
Both teams stormed out of the gate with battles in front of the net, in the corners and along the boards. Very tight checking.
Near the end of the first Ethan S. took a pass From Gryphon B. and put one by the Capitals goalie. The Ice Dogs didn't have long to enjoy the lead as the Capitals went down roughly 20 seconds later and tied the game at 1.
For the rest of the first and all through the second both teams battled on, giving no inch to the other. The score remained tied. Ice Dog goalie Peyton L. stood on his head making save after save after save.
By the middle of the third the Ice Dogs finally ran out of gas and in the end, suffered their first loss of the season. Braeden N. and the rest of the defense crew played very well, making rushes and breaking up plays in their own end. The forwards won lots of battles as well.
Was a great weekend of hockey and now they get some well deserved rest and time to prepare for the upcoming weekend.
