Atom White Ice Dogs Pull Out a Win in Tara!
The Atom White Ice Dogs played their 3rd playoff game against the TCDMHA Rebels on Thursday night and this one was a dandy.
The Rebels have played the Ice Dogs tough every time they played them this year and they came out ready for this one. They beat the Ice Dogs to the loose pucks early and got on the board when they scored on a breakaway. The Dogs kept at it and Colby H. took the puck coast to coast to knot things up at one as the period came to a close.
The Ice Dogs started to find their skating legs as the 2nd period started but took a penalty early on. The Rebels would capitalize and took a 2-1 lead at the end of the period.
As the 3rd period started, the Ice Dogs began to tilt the ice toward the Rebels end. The Rebels were forced to take a couple of penalties in the middle of the frame and the Ice Dogs found the back of the net when Colby ripped a shot from the top of the circle, post and in (assisted by Austin G.) The Ice Dogs kept up the attack and Lucas S. found himself alone in the slot and potted the game winner with 3 and 1/2 minutes left to play (assisted by Colby). The Ice Dogs kept up the pressure and skated away with a big 3-2 win.
The Ice Dogs have a 3-0 record in round robin play and have games against Saugeen Shores and Bruce Peninsula coming up this week.
